Some brands are more than products. They become part of our lives — and our professional journeys.

I came across this insightful article in CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing Catalyst Magazine, September 2026, on nostalgia in Sri Lankan advertising, featuring Ratthi Milk Powder’s iconic Mrs Perera. It took me back to 2008–2010, when I had the privilege of serving as Brand Manager for Ratthi.

I witnessed the brand’s tremendous potential and, together with my bosses and cross-functional teams, worked hard to protect its place in the portfolio amid challenging discussions with regional stakeholders.

Only a few know the story behind those efforts.

To see Ratthi today, continuing to evolve while retaining its emotional connection across generations, is truly admirable.

A powerful reminder that great brand building is not just about creating new memories, but protecting the emotional connections that already exist.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone who believed in and worked for this brand, with special appreciation to Achyuth Reddi and Manoj Namboodiri for their leadership.

Some contributions may never make the headlines, but seeing the brand thrive makes the journey worthwhile. Ratthi will always hold a special place in my marketing journey.
